Industrial Clutches

Our clutches are designed to withstand severe applications mounted to internal combustion engines. The drive rings will fit standard SAE industrial flywheels. Heavy duty laminated gear teeth friction discs are designed to withstand heavy shock loads and torsional vibrations. Clutches are balances to their maximum speeds.

Air Clutches

A low driven inertia air set clutch is the ideal choice for end of shaft mounting arrangements.

This dry, disc type application is notable for:

  • Ability to cycle frequently.
  • Having the highest torque capacity per envelope size.
  • It's quick response with minimal air consumption.
  • High Heat Capacity
  • Available in 1,2,3 or 4 plate designs to suit torque, heat, response & space requirements.

Capacity and Dimensions for Large Air Clutches

  • Sizes: 14, 18, 24, 30, 36 and 42 inches
  • Available in 1, 2 or 3 plate construction
  • Spring release design
  • Integral quick release valve
  • Positive release and positioning of pressure and center plates
  • Four oversize release springs, well removed from heat zone to assure quick positive release
  • Narrow widths for compact installation
  • Heavy, rugged teeth to improve life span and wear
  • Large diaphragm area provides up to 35% higher torque capacity
  • Field-tested diaphragm eliminates release drag for prologed life
  • Adequate air cooling via large passages with cored backplate

For best performance when clutch is used as Master or Operating clutch - limit use to 75% of maximum input torque and derate for apply pressures less than 130 psi.

  • Class I = Disconnect
  • Class II = Light Duty
  • Class III = Normal Duty
  • Class IV = Heavy Duty

Maximum Speeds listed are safe permissible speeds possible with cast iron driving rings. The driving ring is normally the most critical member because it has the largest diameter. Please note that the maximum speed is usually set considerably above the desired operating speed in the average installation.

Mechanical Clutches

Mechanical Clutches are designed to accommodate in-line mounting for heavy duty power transmission. Used in conjunction with either a quick change or standard driving adapter, the clutch is useful as a coupling clutch for shaft to shaft applications.
